ANSWER: Entrepreneurship simply means building your own business. More technically, we can define it as a person taking the risk for profit in order to do a job by putting capital in areas such as trade and industry.

QUESTION: How do I know if an idea can receive project support?

ANSWER: Contact us about your opinion, let us inform you about the suitability of your idea for a grant support (TÜBİTAK, İZKA, KOSGEB). To make an appointment, please send an e-mail to [email protected] and give a brief summary about your idea.

QUESTION: Which types of support can I get on entrepreneurship?

ANSWER: There are a lot of institutions and organizations supporting entrepreneurship in Turkey. In addition to being public institutions, NGOs are working hard to develop entrepreneurship in Turkey. Among the public institutions that support the new entrepreneurship are the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, KOSGEB and TUBITAK.

QUESTION: I want to receive support from the TÜBİTAK fund. How can I get support from Yaşar BTTO?

ANSWER: If you are an employee or student of Yaşar University, or if you are a company employee, you can visit our office or send an e-mail to [email protected]. We provide support for project writing and execution. For detailed information, please refer to the Project Grant Services.

QUESTION: What are Intellectual Property Rights?

ANSWER: A right that is owned by a person or a company to have exclusive rights to use its own plans, ideas, or other intangible assets without the worry of competition, at least for a specific period of time. These rights can include copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. They may be enforced by a court via a lawsuit.

QUESTION: I want to file a patent application, how can I get support?

ANSWER: In Turkey, the number of government incentives supporting patent applications has increased considerably since 2006. The awards given by TUBİTAK are the first ones to come to mind. Since 2014, TUBİTAK’s 1602 Patent Support Program provides support for filing patent applications both nationally and internationally.

QUESTION: If I receive support from Yaşar University for filing a patent application, will Yaşar University be named the applicant?

ANSWER: The applicant is Yaşar University. The inventor is the academician/student.

QUESTION: I need an Ethics Committee report for my project application, what should I do?

ANSWER: Please apply by writing a petition to BTTO so that our office can start the necessary procedures. We ask that you submit your application form in the annex of your petition.

QUESTION: When is Ethics Committee approval required?

ANSWER: In the case of data collection via surveys, interviews and in communication with human beings, an ethics committee report is required.
